Ahmad Husni to lead Malaysian delegate to G20 Finance Ministers meeting
The G20 is a conference of the world's 20 largest economies as measured by GDP.
Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah will lead the Malaysian delegation to the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting from Feb 9-10 in Istanbul, Turkey.
In a statement here today, the Finance Ministry said Malaysia had been invited to the meeting in its capacity as Chair of Asean in 2015.
It said Ahmad Husni would share with the G20, the progress Asean had achieved, particularly in relation to the Asean Economic Community 2015 and other regional initiatives.
He will also highlight the region's concerns towards ensuring stable and sustainable growth, for the prosperity of all.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Ahmad Husni is expected to meet Singapore Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam to discuss a further strengthening of the economic, trade and financial partnership between the two countries.
The G20 is a conference of the world's 20 largest economies as measured by gross domestic product (GDP) and represents about two-thirds of the world's population, 85 percent of global GDP and over 75 percent of global trade.
The members of the G20 are Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States and the European Union.
The invited guests other than Asean includes the African Union and International Organisations.
The theme for the G20 in 2015 is "Inclusiveness, Implementation, and Investment for Growth".
