BSN has no plans to reduce branches, staff strength

Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) has no plans to reduce the number of its branches nor staff strength against a backdrop of uncertain economic conditions.
Chief Executive Datuk Adinan Maning said it would continue it branch operations and keep its staff but increase the service of agent banks, nationwide.
"Right now we have no plans to reduce the number of branches and staff numbers. We want to improve our banking services and financing to the community and not be driven by profits only," he told reporters after opening the main branch building of BSN Johor here today.
Adinan said since its inception in 1974, BSN now has 403 branches with more than 7,200 employees, nationwide, in addition to 731 automated teller machines and 407 cash deposit machines.
He said there were about 7,000 bank agents registered, nationwide, and this number would be increased between 500 and 1,000 this year in both urban and rural areas.
He also said BSN had more than 9.19 million depositors with total deposits amounting to between RM15 billion dan RM20 billion.
"The number of BSN depositors increases between 50,000 and 100,0000, annually, and they were mostly school students," he said. --Bernama
