Govt to allocate 30% of HRDF to implement training programmes
NAJIB: The measures will empower human capital through a quality workforce and improve the employabiity of the workforce.
The government will allocate 30 percent of the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) to implement training programmes to meet the needs of local industries in Sabah and Sarawak as well as an Outplacement Centre to retrain retrenched workers.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said the fund would also train an additional 15,000 participants under the 1Malaysia Training Scheme with an allocation of RM250 million which would be fully financed by the government-linked companies.
Najib, who is also Finance Minister, said this when tabling Budget 2016 at Dewan Rakyat here today.
"The measures will empower human capital through a quality workforce and improve the employabiity of the workforce," he said.
He said to improve the management of foreign workers, a sum of RM77 million would be provided by Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Bhd (PSMB) to implement programmes such as train & replace in selected fields such as hospitality, shippping and transport.
Najib said the government remained committed to achieving at least 30 percent participation of women in decision-making positions in the public and private sectors.
"The government will continue to monitor the achievement of this policy," he said.
