KLIA2 to be completed on time

The joint venture (JV) between UEM Construction Sdn Bhd and Bina Puri Sdn Bhd said it would complete the work package for the low-cost terminal, KLIA2, by the stipulated deadline on Jan 31,2014.

In a joint statement on Tuesday, the companies said they were "working rigorously" to ensure the physical completion of the work package and to obtain the Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC) by Jan 31, 2014, and the Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer (ORAT) process by Feb 1, 2014.

"We are working with various stakeholders namely Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB), the consultants and authorities to achieve the target," they said.

The RM997 million work package awarded to the JV included the construction of the main terminal building, satellite building, sky bridge and piers.

MAHB targets to open KLIA2 for operations on May 2, 2014, following the missed completion date of April 30, 2013. The terminal was earlier targeted to open on June 28 this year.
