Maybank appoints female chairman for Maybank Investment Bank

Maybank has appointed Datuk Mohaiyani Shamsudin as Chairman of Maybank Investment Bank, effective March 1, making her the first female to head a major Maybank group subsidiary.

Maybank Chairman Tan Sri Megat Zaharuddin Megat Mohd Nor said the appointment was part of Maybank's continuous efforts to maximise leverage of its boardroom diversity.

"This is a clear demonstration of our commitment to our inclusiveness and diversity agenda by tapping on the skills of talented individuals," he said.

Mohaiyani replaced Megat Zaharuddin who relinquished his chairmanship of Maybank Investment to assume the post of Maybank Ageas Holdings Bhd (MAHB)Chairman.

Meanwhile, Maybank also announced the appointment of former Malaysian Investment Development Authority Director-General Datuk R. Karunakaran as Chairman of Etiqa Insurance Bhd and Etiqa Takaful Bhd, effective March 1,2016.

Karunakaran is also a director of Maybank and currently sits on the boards of Maybank (Cambodia) Plc, MAHB, Maybank Asset Management Group Bhd, Maybank Asset Management Sdn Bhd and Maybank Agro Fund Sdn Bhd.
