Consumers also have manifesto for political parties

The people have come up with their very own manifesto and if any political party wishes to win in the upcoming general election, they better read each sentence in the manifesto and ensure it is seen through.

The manifesto, aptly called the Malaysian Consumers Wishlist for the 13th General Election, was the initiative of the Federation of Malaysian Consumers Associations (Fomca).

Fomca chief executive officer, Datuk Paul Selvaraj said the manifesto was the result of surveys done on 40,000 Malaysians through their National Consumers Campaign.

“We gathered information on people’s wishes, their wants and their hopes and compiled them over a period of one year. We first published in June last year, with hopes that the policy makers would take heed of it,” he told Astro Awani.

Paul said the manifesto was based on the eight basic consumer rights.

“The eight basic rights are the rights for basic needs, safety, choice, information, redress, consumer education, safe and healthy environment and rights to be heard,” he said.

He added that among the most important issues that people want to be addressed is food prices, public transport, fear of crime and healthcare.
