IRAN'S security chief Ali Larijani said on Monday that Iran "has prepared itself for a long war".
The Iranian people will fiercely defend themselves and their six thousand years old civilization regardless of the costs and will make the enemies sorry for their miscalculation, said Larijani, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, in a social media post.

His comments came as strikes against the country initiated by Israel and the United States entered the third day.
The conflict starting from Saturday has intensified with the two countries launching new waves of strikes on Tehran, while Iran retaliated with missile barrages fired at Israel and U.S.-linked targets across the Middle East.
On the same day, Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian appointed Seyed Majid Ebn Al-Reza as the caretaker of the country's Defense Ministry.
His appointment came following the killing of former Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh in the joint U.S.-Israeli airstrike on Saturday.
Prior to his appointment, Ebn Al-Reza served as deputy defense minister.
