As the anticipation for the annual Oscar grows as the date of the coveted award approaches, numerous websites have gone all out to predict the lucky ones who are most likely to walk away with a golden trophy on Feb 24.
A general survey of Hollywood’s top entertainment websites revealed that their predicted winners for the 85th Academy Awards are commonly similar to one another.
Showbiz website GoldDerby, www.goldderby.com, in its expert prediction column, voted ‘Argo’ as the most likely winner for the Best Picture category with a 27/10 odds of winning.
Likewise, Huffington Post, www.huffingtonpost.com, also voted ‘Argo’ for Best Picture, with a whopping 93.9 per cent chance of winning and another website Deadline, www.deadline.com also predicted the Ben Affleck starrer as the winner.
Also making ‘Argo’ a favorite is, Indiewire, www.indiewire.com. The website labeled ‘Argo’ as ‘Will Win’, ‘Lincoln’ as ‘Could Win’ and ‘Zero Dark Thirty’ as ‘Should Win’.
All four websites picked Daniel Day-Lewis as its winner for the Best Actor category for the movie "Lincoln" with Huffington post giving the actor 98.9 per cent chances of winning and Indiewire describing him as a person who is ‘largely considered one of the greatest actors of all-time.
As for the winner of the Best Actress category, the websites seems torn between the top two strong competitors for the title, namely Jennifer Lawrence for the role she played in "Silver Linings Playbook" and Emmanuelle Riva, for "Amour".
GoldDerby and Huffington Post opted for Lawrence with the former giving the actress 36 per cent chances of winning while the latter gave the actress a 71.5 per cent chances of winning.
Indiewire and Deadline choose Riva with the former describing the actress who will turn 86 years old on Oscar night on Sunday, Feb 24, as the oldest best actress nominee ever, and represents a rare case where she's both a sentimental choice and the most deserving winner.
GoldDerby, Indiewire and Huffington Post picked Steven Spielberg as the winner for the Best Director category for his movie “Lincoln” while Deadline opted for Ang Lee for the movie ‘Life of Pi”.
For the Best Supporting Actor category, GoldDerby and Huffington Post chose Tommy Lee Jones for Lincoln while Indiewire and Dateline chose Robert De Niro for the movie "Silver Linings Playbook".
All four websites betted for Anne Hathaway to walk away with the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in Les Miserables"
Indiewire said ‘Hathaway is widely considered the best thing about the film (even by the many people that don't like it)’ and Huffington Post thinks she is 99.7 per cent likely to win the award.
Again, all websites chose ‘Life of Pi’ to walk away with the Best Visual Effects award.
