Vocalist sets new record by singing non-stop for 36 hours
Noted Hindustani vocalist and music composer Ramesh Narayanan.
Noted Hindustani vocalist and music composer Ramesh Narayanan has entered his name in the Limca Book of Records by singing continuously for 36 hours at a concert, Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.
The Limca Book of Records is the equivalent of the Guinness Book of World Records that honours the feats and achievements of Indians.
Ramesh who hails from south west state of Kerala sang Hindustani classical ragas non-stop for 36 hours and completed a 24-hour raga cycle during a concert held at the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune, Maharashtra last year.
The event titled 'Sangeet Samarpan-2013' was held to create awareness of India's rich music tradition and as a tribute to music legends.
Ramesh, 55, began his music career in Carnatic music before focusing on classical Hindustani style under the legendary musician Pandit Jasraj of Mewati Gharana.
He has sang for a number of films and was recognised by the Kerala State Film Awards.
