Pahang, Perak and Kelantan see more evacuees return home

The number of flood evacuees at relief centres in Pahang, Perak and Kelantan has dropped further while there was no change in the situation in Johor.

At 5pm, the total number of evacuees in the country stood at 9,341 people as compared to 10,154 at midday.

In PAHANG, a spokesman for the Pahang police contingent headquarters' flood operations room said 4,908 evacuees were still at 23 relief centres as compared to 5,184 at midday.

Pekan has 2,672 evacuees, Kuantan (877), Maran (848), Temerloh (247), Rompin (209), Bera (47) and Bentong (eight).

Meanwhile, the Bentong-Raub road is still closed to all vehicles due to serious soil erosion and strong currents at the Kampung Baru Bentong bridge.

Road users have been advised to alternatively use the Bentong-Karak Highway-Cinta Manis-Sertik-Mempaga, Lebu-Raub or Sertik-Kuala Krau route.

In PERAK, a state National Security Council (MKN) spokesman said 2,518 evacuees were still at 13 relief centres as compared to 2,572 people at midday.

Perak Tengah still has 1,891 evacuees, Hilir Perak (450), Manjung (127) and Hulu Perak (50).

In KELANTAN, an MKN spokesman said there was a significant drop in the number of evacuees, to 1,883 people as compared to 2,366 at midday.

Kuala Krai had the most at 1,016 people, Gua Musang (674), Machang (100) and Tanah Merah (93).

In JOHOR pula, 32 people from eight familes still remained at two relief centres in Segamat.
