PM has yet to decide on cash aid to be given to flood victims - Ahmad Maslan

Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has yet to decide on the value of cash aid to flood victims in the East Coast.
A total of RM500 will be given to all families who were evacuated to the various relief centres and RM200 to those who did not relocate, said Ahmad Maslan when contacted by Astro AWANI here today.
On Monday,Ahmad Maslan had announced that the government had spent RM800 million in the first phase of infrastructure repairs in assisting flood victims since end December.
“The RM800 million also includes cash but the total value has yet to be determined. We are still waiting for the Prime Minister’s decision on this matter,” he said.
National Security Council (NSC) secretary Datuk Thajudeen Abdul Wahab when contacted said the total will only be determined after the floods situation in Perak and Pahang has improved.
The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has called on the Ministry of Finance Ministry to detail out the RM800 million allocation for the flood victims.
Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin hopes allocation can be handed out to flood victims between January 15 and 16.
“We do have allocation even during a normal flood situation. I will refer to the Prime Minister on the amount that will be given to all households , whether it is RM500 or RM1000.
"This will be decided as soon as possible,”said Ahmad maslan to Bernama when he chaired the Kelantan Post-Flood Action Plan Coordination meeting on Tuesday.
