Almost 80 Pct of US Republicans oppose providing aid to Ukraine - Poll

MOSCOW: Almost 80 per cent of US Republicans oppose providing financial aid to Ukraine, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.

According to a poll conducted by the Wall Street Journal, 83 per cent of Democrats supported continuing US financial aid to Ukraine, while 79 per cent of Republicans opposed it.

In addition, 62 per cent of American voters believe that expanding US territory by including Greenland and Canada is a bad idea. Only 25 per cent of respondents support this idea, while the remaining 13 per cent of survey participants said they did not know the answer to this question or refused to answer it at all.

At the same time, more than half of Republicans (51 per cent) support US President Donald Trump's statements about territorial expansion.

The publication also found out the attitude of US voters towards NATO. Thus, according to the survey results, 81 per cent of Democrats have a positive attitude towards NATO, while among Republicans this figure was only 31 per cent.

The survey was conducted from March 27 to April 1 among 1,500 registered voters; the margin of error is 2.5 percentage points.
