IRAN'S Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei said on Monday (August 3) there were no talks under way with the United States and no plans for any meetings, while talks with Oman over management of the Strait of Hormuz continued.
U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters on Sunday (August 2) that a negotiation with Iran would begin on Monday afternoon but did not provide details of where it would take place or who would be involved.

Iran has largely closed the Strait of Hormuz, a conduit for 20% of the world's oil and liquefied natural gas before the start of the war on February 28, causing energy prices to rise and stoking broader inflation.
