Jokowi, Indonesian Cabinet to undergo COVID-19 test

Yesterday, Transport Minister Budi Karya Sumadi was confirmed positive for COVID-19 and is now being treated at Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital in Jakarta.

Jokowi said he would be screened this evening in a live television media broadcast from the Presidential Palace in Bogor today.

Meanwhile, the number of positive COVID-19 cases in Indonesia has risen to 117 cases.

Indonesian government spokesman on COVID-19, Achmad Yurianto said there were 21 more new cases of the virus today compared to 96 cases yesterday.

"COVID-19 fatalities in Indonesia remain at five while eight cases have recovered," he said at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta today.

Jokowi in a media conference also advised the people not to panic in facing COVID-19.

"I am calling on all Indonesians not to panic and to stay productive. It is the time to work from home, study from home and even pray from home," he said.

Jokowi told agencies and related parties to quickly put in place policies to enable school and university students learn from home while it could also be implemented for certain civil servants apart from calling for the cancellation or postponement of large-scale community activities.

Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan in a statement said the odd and even number plate regulation for entry of vehicles into Jakarta city has suspended for two weeks as a measure to prevent the spread of the virus.

The exemption is aimed at encouraging the people to use their own vehicles compared to public transport.

Yesterday, Anies announced schools and tourist spots in Jakarta would be closed for two weeks.
