ISTANBUL: Kuwait announced a “precautionary” reduction in crude oil production and refining operations following repeated Iranian attacks against the country, Anadolu Ajansı (AA) reported

The Kuwait Petroleum Corporation said the adjustment was taken in response to “repeated and hostile” Iranian attacks on Kuwait, according to the Kuwait News Agency.

The corporation stressed that the reduction is “purely precautionary” and will be reviewed as the situation develops.

The company remains fully prepared to restore production levels once conditions allow, it added.

The decision comes as Iran has launched missiles and drones toward Israel and Gulf countries that are home to US military assets since Feb. 28. Some of the attacks have caused casualties and damage to civilian sites, including ports and residential buildings.

Tehran says the attacks came in response to a US-Israeli military campaign against Iran that has killed hundreds of people, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and top military officials.
