A Singaporean female passenger who went missing while traveling on a ferry from Malaysia to Singapore has been rescued by a fishing vessel and is now in Batam.
In a statement late Saturday night, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said it received confirmation of the rescue from the Police Coast Guard.
MPA said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is organising her travel back to Singapore.
She was found missing on Saturday morning when the Singapore-flagged ferry "Sindo Empress" berthed at the Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal after having departed from Tanjong Pengellih, Malaysia, at 7.30am.
MPA terminated the search and rescue operation and extended its appreciation to the Police Coast Guard, Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency, Batam Port Authority and Tanjung Pinang Rescue Coordination Centre for their assistance.
