LOS ANGELES: Activity was at a minimum at the biggest shipping port in the United States as boats and shipping containers were at a standstill on Tuesday (May 13) at the Port of Los Angeles.
The slowdown follows a port prediction from the Los Angeles port executive director, Gene Seroka, who expects a 35% drop in cargo from Asia this week, according to a CNBC interview this past Tuesday (April 29).
Seroka said that until some accord or framework is reached with China, the volume coming out of the country, except for some commodities, would be very light at best.
The ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach are the most exposed to the boiling trade war between the United States and China, as they are the preferred entry gates for goods from China, which is the number one source of imports.
