Sydney siege: Peaceful negotiation continues - NSW deputy police commissioner

New South Wales (NSW) Deputy Police Commissioner Catherine Burn said the police is in “negotiation” with the armed person in Martin Place, Sydney.
During a press conference, Burn said that the police would deal with the situation "peacefully".
"It might take a bit of time but that is our approach. We will be working into the night if this situation continues and we will be looking at arrangements for tomorrow,” she said.
She added that the police could not confirm how many people remained inside the Lindt cafe in Martin Place, but it was fewer than 30.
She confirmed that at least three male hostages had made it out.
