Two Malaysians hurt in Danok blasts

Two Malaysians were among the 24 victims who were injured in the bomb blast in Danok, South Thailand, Sunday.

The blast had occurred near Thailand-Malaysia border, Bukit Kayu Hitam, Kedah.

When contacted, Padang Besar district police chief Superintendent Che Man Md Dros said details of the two Malaysian victims have not been confirmed yet.

Bomb blasts also took place in Sadao at about 11am and in Padang Besar at 1pm. However, no one was hurt in the blasts.

Songkhla Governor Girisada Boonrach said the blast in Danok at 1.45pm, in front of a hotel was believed to be from bomb hidden in a four-wheel vehicle, parked in front of the hotel.

All injured victims were sent to nearby hospital.

Meanwhile, police have advised Malaysians who have businesses in the areas to be extra careful.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Bakri Mohd Zinin in a statement said the people especially those living near the border should not be worried as police have the situation under control.

He said police are monitoring the developments and have taken the necessary precautions, including tightening security at the Malaysian-Thailand border.
