SANAA: A senior Houthi official has warned that U.S. airstrikes on three of Iran’s nuclear facilities mark the “beginning of a major war” in the middle east, in a stark statement reflecting deep regional anxiety over escalating conflict.
The remarks followed U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement that B-2 bombers had carried out strikes on Iran’s Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan nuclear sites, with a “full bomb load” dropped on Fordow.
Houthi political spokesperson Mohammed al-Bukhaiti, speaking on Al-Masirah TV, declared: “This is not just a provocation – it is a declaration of war against the entire Axis of Resistance. The United States is now officially a party to this conflict.”
He added that the Houthis and their allies “will not remain silent” and would respond to any threat against Iran, whom they consider a key strategic partner in the fight against “Zionist-American hegemony.”
Al-Bukhaiti also urged Arab and Muslim nations to take a strong stance against the U.S. action, warning that further attacks could trigger an “uncontrollable chain reaction.”
While Iran has yet to issue an official statement on the extent of the damage, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed a minor radiological leak at one site, with no immediate threat to the public.
