Friday night's incessant rain resulting in flash flood forced 113 flood victims from 23 families in Kampung Labohan, Kemasik Saturday morning to relocate to relief centres.
One of the victims, Che Rohani Senik, 45, said she and other residents in the area had to move to relief centres as flood waters began rising sharply, beginning 4am.
"The rain did not stop since yesterday. I was very worried...but did not think the water will rise so quickly.
"We had to move to safer ground because there was no sign of the rain stopping, we feared the water will continue rising and worsen the situation," she told Bernama when met at the Dewan Orang Ramai Kampung Labohan here Saturday.
Another victim, Nor Azizah Mohd Ali, 32, said she was shocked and in a state of panic as she was unable to salvage any household item.
A Bernama survey found that at one point, some of the houses were flooded up to several metres, making it difficult to salvage any home appliance and furniture.
Meanwhile, Kemasik assemblyman Rosli Othman, who is also state public works and transport committee chairman, said flood victims at the evacuation centres had been provided with the necessities by the social welfare department yesterday morning.
