The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) probe into the dealings of 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) does not overlap with the investigations by the government's Special Task Force on it, said PAC chairman, Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed.

He said the PAC was looking into 1MDB's administrative practices while the STF was probing the company's money trail.

"We are actually working together, and in fact the PAC is supporting the STF, which helps our work too.

"And if necessary, when the STF completes its investigations, its members may be invited by the PAC to talk about their work," he said when commenting on whether there was any overlap in the investigations carried out by the PAC and the STF.

Nur Jazlan was speaking to reporters after a ceremony to hand over tithes to the hard-core poor at the Taman Kempas Permai people's housing project (PPR) on Sunday.

He added that he hoped the team would conduct a fair investigation without any influence from any party.

"This is so that they can conduct a transparent investigation and provide answers to the people regarding the allegations made by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) pertaining to 1MDB.

Nur Jazlan said he believed that even if there was anyone trying to influence the STF, it would still carry out its duties well.

The STF comprises Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail, Bank Negara Governor Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed.

Nur Jazlan said the PAC was also committed to performing its duties and had summoned the chief executive officer (CEO) and former CEO of 1MDB as well as the directors and former directors to give their statements.

"This will give a better picture of the administrative practices at the 1MDB," he said.
