The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will begin to probe into the trouble-ridden 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) on May 19, said chairman Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed.
In a press statement, he said PAC will start the proceeding by calling Treasury's secretary-general Tan Sri Irwan Serigar Abdullah and Economic Planning Unit (EPU) director-general Datuk Seri Dr Rahmat Bivi Abdullah to give their statements.
He said the PAC will call 1MDB chief executive officer Arul Kanda Kandasamy and his predecessor Datuk Shahrul Ibrahim Halmi on May 26.
Shahrul had served as the CEO from March 2009 to March 2013.

1MDB: TI Malaysia backs proposal to appoint an independent international auditor
Nur Jazlan said the committee has agreed to start an investigation proceeding on the 1MDB in a special meeting on Apr 30.
“In that meeting, all PAC members comprising eight Barisan Nasional members of Parliament and five from the Opposition were unanimous in calling all quarters involved in the management of 1MDB since it was set up in 2009,” he said in the press statement.
He said letters were sent to the Finance Ministry and EPU on May 6 but the EPU had replied on Friday, saying that it was not involved in the 1MDB administration.
However, he said the PAC still wanted the EPU to give its statement on the matter as it had given statements twice on the 1MDB’s investments and is also responsible over the Tun tazak Exchange (TRX) land development as well as Bandar Malaysia, Sungai Besi.
He said PAC had sent another letter to the EPU today, asking it to attend the meeting on May 19 together with the Ministry of Finance.
