267 issued summonses in Kuantan

A total of 267 motorcyclists were issued summonses, including 95 people who did not have valid driving licence, in a New Year eve operation which ended at 5am on January 1, 2013.

Pahang police traffic and administrative enforcement officer, ASP Zainalabidin Othman said five under-age youths were also detained for driving without a licence and in a reckless manner.

He said the operation focused on areas, like Jalan Tengku Muhamad, Jalan Pintasan Kuantan-Pelabuhan, Tanjung Lumpur and Sungai Isap, which are often used as illegal racing tracks.

He added, a total of 667 vehicles were inspected and summon notices were issued for 472 of them for various offences.

He advised parents to not allow their children to drive or ride without a valid driving licence.
