4 teens held over assault of pupil

The police have detained four teenagers linked to a brutal attack last Thursday on a form one pupil which had resulted in the victim suffering from internal bleeding.

In the incident at a religious school in Pokok Sena, Mohd Irfan Azizan, 13, bled in the intestines and kidneys.

Kota Setar district police chief ACP Adzaman Mohd Jan said the suspects, aged between 15 and 17, were arrested in the compound of the Kota Setar police headquarters last night.

Another suspect would be detained later today, he said in a statement.

In the 3am incident, five senior students assaulted Mohd Irfan outside the school's hostel room.

Adzaman said the victim, from Kampung Permatang Kaka, Kodiang was attacked for allegedly stealing a mobile phone belonging to one of the senior students.
