The Gombak Timur Lower Syariah Court has postponed a proceeding on actress Abby Abadi's application for confirmation on a divorce utterance by her husband, Muhammad Noor Farhan Che Bakar who had issued a 'talak' on her via a text message.
Syarie judge Shaiful Azli Jamaludin fixed June 11 for mention after Abby or Arbaeyah Abdul Manan, 37, told the court of another divorce pronouncement made by Muhammad Noor Farhan, 25, that she had not file for the court's endorsement.
Abby said it was over Muhammad Noor Farhan's remarks to a friend that they were already divorced in January but they had since reconciled and the matter was referred to a religious scholar.
Shaiful Azli told Abby that she had to file an application for confirmation of the first divorce pronouncement as soon as possible.
"Even if you had patched up, you still have to file an application for the divorce utterance to be verified. And if the pronouncement is valid, the number of talak (disambiguation) could have increased," he said.
Earlier, Abby told the court that Muhammad Noor Farhan uttered a divorce on her via a text message at 10.25 am on May 9 and after several exchanges, she received another message from her husband, stating that their relationship had ceased.
Abby said their fiery exchanges emanated over a misunderstanding right through the night until morning after Muhammad Noor Farhan did not return home the previous day and they no longer stayed together after he uttered a divorce on her.
Muhammad Noor Farhan, who was present in the court, said he agreed to what was state by Abby in the court and asserted that he was in the right frame of mind when making the divorce pronouncement.
Meanwhile, Abby, accompanied by her two daughters, told reporters outside the court that she did not expect her marriage to crumble overnight after clinging on for nearly one year.
"I love him very much, but I was not given the space for a face to face encounter to improve our relationship. I accept it as fated and hope for the divorce to be resolved amicably," she said.
Abby and Muhammad Nor Farhan got married in South Thailand on July 9 after a two-week acquaintance and registered the marriage in Kelantan.
Before her second marriage, Abby was married to by actor Norman Hakim and were blessed with three children.
The marriage ended with a divorce in the same court on Dec 18, 2008.
