Luciana Francissca Peter a Malaysian singer-songwriter today made a statement on the social media regarding the arrest of Adam Adli.
Most of the feedback and replies to the particular comment came supportive and positive from various users of Facebook.
A gentleman named Peter Chaw in a reply to the particular comment said,"I fully support him. He will grow stronger from this experience. We need heroes like him. What he is doing is his belief for the betterment for the country. I am with you Adam. May God bless you! We are all with you."
Francissca, who is also the Ambassador to The International Aid Organisation WorldVision Malaysia replied to a comment saying, ‘Nothing political its about the boy this young man no justice for what the youth believe in. It is silencing the young. How can the young respect adults who are older who go against the law. We are suppose to set an example of goodness just and equality”.
The 23-year-old student activist was arrested under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 on 18 May said the Kuala Lumpur police chief, Deputy Commissioner Datuk Mohmad Salleh.
Adam was arrested for his public forum on May 13 allegedly defaming the government and was earlier suspended from UPSI for bringing down the flag that had the portrait of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
He is currently been detained in Jinjang Central Lockup for the pass five days. The usage of handcuffs on Adam made headlines as pictures of him with handcuffs went viral on social sites.
However, Sentul police chief ACP Zakaria Pagan said detainees would be handcuffed when they were taken out of the lock-up for security reason.
ACP Zakaria also said the use of handcuffs on detainees except for juvenile offenders is one of the police standard operating procedures (SOP).
Around 30 Universiti Sains Malaysia students also held a candle vigil in front of the Sungai Dua KFC on Tuesday at 8.30pm in a symbolic gesture urging for the release of Adam.
