Another contender joins the mini MPV segment!

First off do not get confused. Yes, Naza Euro Motors launched a Picasso last year and that was the all-new model as well but that is not to be confused with the newly launched C4 Picasso, the one launched last year is known as the C4 Grand Picasso, a seven seater and with a longer wheelbase. This is the C4 Picasso, a five seater and is set to contend with the likes of the BMW 2-Series Active Tourer and the Mercedes-Benz B-Class.

The Citroen C4 Picasso sits on an EMP2 Platform allowing designers to create a loft-like interior for increased cabin space. The C4 Picasso might look compact on the outside but there is definitely nothing compact about it on the inside! It has optimised dimensions along with electric power steering to make the car an agile MPV that adapts to all driving situations to give you a smooth ride.

Citroen has redesigned the Citroen styling, giving the car’s frontend a more assertive engine compartment and a new look. The C4 Picasso still shares the same daytime-running lights and the same slender headlamps as the C4 Grand Picasso but the C-shape in chrome on the side of the car gives the C4 Picasso’s side view a whole different personality.

Designers have made sure to keep the loft-like interior uncluttered with an attention to detail and quality of material. The seats are covered in slate grey leather “Ondulice” cloth to give it a premium touch. The biggest focus of the C4 Picasso is the zenith windscreen that gives both drivers and passengers a wider view of the outside.

Not only does the C4 Picasso looks good, it is also brimming with technology. The dashboard is structured around a seven-inch touchpad and a 12-inch panoramic HD screen that houses the control for the radios and air-conditioning settings. Driving aids include the usual Anti-Lock Braking System, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, Electronic Brake Assistance and Electronic Stability Control with Traction Control along with six airbags.

Under the bonnet lies a 1.6-litre direct injection engine with twin-scroll turbocharger, the engine which produces 163bhp and 240Nm of torque is mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox. The C4 Picasso makes the century sprint in 9.3 seconds and hits a top speed of 210kph. The THP 165 engine also has a fuel efficiency of 17.3km/l and a CO2 emission reading of 130g/km.
