Bahrain keen to exchange expertise with Malaysia in water, energy sector

MANAMA: Bahrain is keen to exchange its expertise with Malaysia in developing the water, electricity and renewable energy sector.
According to Bahrain news agency (BNA) this was expressed by the kingdom's Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Yasser Ibrahim Humaidan when met with Malaysian ambassador to Bahrain Shazryll Zahiran at the former's office on Tuesday.
During the meeting both Yasser and Shazryll had took stock of the growing bilateral relation between Kuala Lumpur and Manama as well as discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation between both nations.
The bilateral ties between Bahrain and Malaysia was established n 1974, with the opening of the new Bahrain embassy in Kuala Lumpur which has been operating since July 2019.
During the last 25 years Malaysia's export to Bahrain have increased at an annualised rate of 3.56 per cent, from US$25.5 million in 1995 to US$61 million in 2020, while exports of Bahrain to Malaysia increased at an annualised rate of 13.1 per cent from US$31.7 million in 1995 to US$688 million in 2020.
In 2020, Malaysia exported US$61 million worth of products to Bahrain, namely refined petroleum (US$8.39 million), palm oil (US$6.98 million) and sawn wood (US$4.66 million).
Where else, Bahrain exported US$688 million worth of products namely raw aluminium (US$558 million), refined petroleum (US$98 million) and petroleum coke (US$15.6 million).
