SHAH ALAM: National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang has urged Malaysians to give their moral support to the Batang Kali landslide victims and their families.
In conveying his condolences to the families of those who perished in the disaster, Aaron prayed that those affected by the incident would be given the strength and support to deal with the challenges.
"It is a sad incident. Nobody expected such a thing to happen. As Malaysians, let's give our support to the victims and their families," he told reporters after opening the extraordinary convention of the National Young Buddhist Association of Malaysia (YBAM) here today.
In ALOR SETAR, Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) chief Jen Tan Sri Mohd Asghar Khan Goriman Khan said they were prepared to join in the search and rescue (SAR) operation for the missing victims if asked to.
"RMAF is always ready to deploy its personnel and assets to help in SAR operations," he told reporters after a graduation ceremony for 30 trainees of flying courses at the Air Force College.
The SAR operation to locate missing victims resumed at 8 am today at the Father's Organic Farm campsite in Gohtong Jaya, which was hit by the landslide yesterday.
As of this afternoon, 23 people have been confirmed killed in the landslide, 10 are still missing and 61 were rescued.
