Be united in matters of common interest - Asyraf Wajdi
ASYRAF WAJDI: Muslims in Malaysia should learn from the humanitarian crisis that is happening to that country and Muslims abroad because the strength of the community is important to ensure peace. - Filepic
Malaysian Muslims are urged to be tolerant and united in issues of mutual interest for the sake of the community's unity and strength, says Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.
He said despite the political differences, consolidation within the Muslim community was not impossible just like what happened during the recent 'Solidarity for Rohingya' gathering.
"Muslims in Malaysia should learn from the humanitarian crisis that is happening to that country and Muslims abroad because the strength of the community is important to ensure peace," he told a press conference after launching the Federal Territories-level Maulidur Rasul celebrations here Friday.
At the event, Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) deputy director (operations) Yaakob Abdul Rahim handed over donations totalling RM152,000 collected by mosques here for the Rohingya Humanitarian Fund, to Asyraf Wajdi.
Five people received special awards in conjunction with the celebrations.
They are Mohamad Suhaimi Awang Musa, 50; Mohamad Raffi'e Jaafar, 46; Khirudin Drahman @ Hussaini, 51; Marzuki Ong Maliki Ong, 45; and Jamaliah Kario, 57. -- Bernama
