Beware of counterfeit PosLaju prepaid envelopes - Pos Malaysia
The public have been urged to purchase genuine PosLaju prepaid envelopes only at post offices.
The public have been urged to be wary of counterfeit PosLaju prepaid envelopes as Pos Malaysia Berhad has detected the illegal sale and distribution of fake PosLaju prepaid envelopes in the market.
Pos Malaysia in a statement here on Monday said the users of such counterfeit product would risk their items not being accepted for delivery and could also face legal consequences.
"Pos Malaysia takes this matter seriously and wishes to advise the public to be vigilant and purchase genuine PosLaju prepaid envelopes only at the post offices, PosLaju centres and PosLaju authorised agents," it said.
A special task force comprising Pos Malaysia's postal inspectors has been set up to check into the possibility of a network engaged in the sale and distribution of conterfeit Poslaju prepaid envelopes in the country.
The investigation has so far resulted in the seizure of 1,300 pieces of fake PosLaju envelopes of various sizes, according to the statement.
It is stated that the offence of producing, distributing, selling and possessing fictitious and counterfeit postal products is punishable under Section 65 of the Postal Services Act 2012, which carries a fine of up to RM500,000 or imprisonment for up to five years, or both.
The statement said Pos Malaysia had also requested the Royal Malaysian Police and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to help identify, nab the culprits and bring an end to the illegal activity which had a huge impact on the company's business.
It said as part of Pos Malaysia's commitment to protect its customers, the company would introduce more safety features for its products.
It wants the public to report any suspected illicit activity of manufacturing, distributing and selling of counterfeit Pos Malaysia products by calling PosLine 1-300-300-300 or email to [email protected] or to its nearest outlet.
