Boy drowns after falling into Sungai Kinta

A Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) spokesperson, in a statement said it was leant that Mohd Hakimi Nor Izzudin was playing with his two friends near the river prior to the incident.

"The incident came to light after members of the public heard the victim's friend shouting for help.

"His body was brought out of the river by members of the public at about 10.30 am," the spokesperson said.

Firemen tried to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the victim but to no avail and the boy was pronounced dead by medical personnel who arrived at the scene later.

The body was handed over to the police for further action.
