The chief Monk of Buddhist Maha Vihara and Chief High Priest of Malaysia, Venerable Datuk K. Sri Dhammaratana Maha Thera offered his apology to all Muslim brothers and sisters for the action of a certain Buddhist group from Singapore which performed a meditation session at the surau of a resort near Kota Tinggi, Johor, recently.

Although he personally did not know the group members, on the basis of responsibility, he deeply regretted the irresponsible act and hoped that such incidents would not happen in the future.

"The foreign group should have looked for a suitable place and understood the sensitivities of our local culture and traditions before organising the event.

"I would really like to appeal to all Muslims to accept this apology and will make sure that it does not happen again," he said.

In the name of Buddhism, he advised all Buddhist to respect the religious sensitivities of other religions while carrying out their own religious obligations and responsibilities.

He also stressed that all Buddhists must at all times be conscious and aware of the fundamental principle expounded by Lord Buddha..." It is impossible to build one's own happiness on the unhappiness of others".
