Caltex’s Fuel Your School 2015 comes to an end

This is the fourth consecutive year that Chevron Malaysia Limited, the company that carries the Caltex brand, has held the Caltex Fuel Your School campaign. This year the campaign started in early October and was only opened to schools in Malacca and Negeri Sembilan.

“By reaching out to schools in Malaysia one state at a time, we are glad that the Caltex Fuel Your School campaign has made a difference and this is especially important for high need schools as more than 50 percent of the students are from low income households. In line with our global initiative, Chevron’s Energy for Learning, this community campaign truly helps to support learning-based programmes – whether it’s acquiring new knowledge, gaining new skills or exposing individuals to different ways of thinking,” said Policy, Government & Public Affairs Manager, Mokhtar Ali Ismail.

This year, the RM250,000 allocated were distributed among 25 classroom projects. Out of which, Sekolah Kebangsaan Air Molek struck the most wins and was awarded learning materials worth RM30,000 in total.

English teacher Siti Fatimah Daud from Sekolah Menengah Hang Kasturi, had seen the opportunity the Fuel for School Campaign could offer and immediately started preparing a project proposal titled The English Transformers. She commented that the project motivated the students and also added support to win this submission.

The learning materials awarded to all winning projects of participating schools in both Malacca and Negeri Sembilan had impacted a total of 1241 students. Thanks to the Caltex Journey card campaign that Caltex ran from 15th October to 14th November, Fuel Your School had reached more than 800 students in Malacca itself.

Caltex’s Fuel Your School campaign is part of Chevron’s Energy for Learning global initiative to support both the social and economic vitality with the help of local communities or NGOs. This year, the Fuel Your School movement is a partnership with the MyKasih Foundation and the company is proud to announce that they have received a 60 per cent increase in project submissions this year.

Chevron Malaysia promises to continue this community effort and extend it to more states in the coming years.
