Change the Opposition Leader, many young leaders eligible - Warisan Whip chief

Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) Whip chief Datuk Rozman Isli said there is dissatisfaction among members towards the leadership and direction of the opposition bloc led by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"We are dissatisfied and feel it is time for us to signal that the leadership of this opposition bloc needs to be reviewed.

"We need a leader who can lead us to be a stronger team," he said when contacted by Astro AWANI.

Rozman, who is also the Member of Parliament for Labuan, said that many opportunities have been given to the PKR President, but Anwar's direction was still unclear.

He, who declined to name an individual to replace Anwar as Opposition Leader, said many young and new faces were eligible for the seat.

"I do not have a name (for replacement). Only for me, there are many (who can replace Anwar).

"What is important now is for our current leaders to reflect and be able to evaluate who (the successor) will be.

"There areany young leaders ... even in PKR, many have the ability. I am confident we will be stronger," he said.

Questions arose previously regarding Warisan's confidence in Anwar's leadership when none of their members attended a bloc voting session involving two ministries at the 2021 Supply Bill (Budget) committee stage on Monday.

Apart from Rozman, the Warisan MPs who were not present today were Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal (Semporna), Datuk Darell Leiking (Penampang), Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis (Kota Belud), Datuk Mohd Azis Jamman (Sepanggar), Ma'mun Sulaiman (Kalabakan), Ahmad Hassan (Papar) and Datuk Mohamaddin Ketapi (Lahad Datu).
