PUTRAJAYA: The public overturned a car involved in a road accident to rescue a child who was trapped after being involved in a road accident in front of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Putrajaya Precinct 11 (1) yesterday afternoon.
The Putrajaya branch of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) said that the members of the public at the scene took initial action to rescue the victim before the fire brigade arrived.
According to the JBPM, the incident involved a boy and Perodua Alza multi-purpose vehicle (MPV).
"The incident was reported to the Putrajaya JBPM at 4.55 pm before a team from Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), Precinct 7, consisting of nine personnel, rushed to the scene with a Light Fire Rescue Tender (LFRT) and three Rapid Intervention Motorcycle (RIM) units," according to the statement.
Meanwhile, Putrajaya district police chief ACP Aidi Sham Mohamed said initial investigations found that at the time of the incident, the eight-year-old victim crossed Jalan P11J/1 to go to SK P11(1) Putrajaya after walking on the pedestrian path next to Block C Apartment Zone 6B.
He said the child is currently being treated at the Putrajaya Hospital for a fractured head, wounds on the back, wounds on the right knee, swelling on the left thigh, and other injuries that have yet to be confirmed.
"The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he also said.
