Claudia's remains expected to arrive Saturday
The body of Claudia Theophilus, a Malaysian who died of a gunshot wound in Lebanon on Feb 2, is expected to arrive at the KL International Airport Saturday. She had worked as English editor with Al-Jazeera based in Doha, Qatar. In a statement here Friday, Umno Youth community complaints bureau chairman Datuk Muhammad Khairun Aseh said its mission to assist the family in bringing the body of their daughter home was a success. He said, last Tuesday, Claudia's sister, Dora, 36, accompanied by a close friend of the deceased, and two representatives from the bureau, flew to Beirut to retrieve the remains. "The court in Lebanon has given permission for the release of the body and the victim's belongings. "We also met with the Lebanon police investigating the case, and read their reports," he added. Muhammad Khairun thanked the Malaysian Embassy in Beirut and the Wisma Putra consulate for their support. It was reported that Claudia, 42, was accidentally shot while on holiday with her two friends in Beirut, Lebanon.
