Come home, says father of IS woman

"If she is fated to return to her family, then she will be back, just like she has been destined to be in Syria.

"(But) if a message can be sent to her, I hope she will come back to us (family). I am not well, and don't know if I will ever see her again. So, please come home," said Ahmad, who is wheelchair-bound.

His daughter, Nor Mahmudah, 26, had gone to Syria to be with her husband, Muhammad Wanndy Mohamad Jedi, 25, who is believed to be involved with the Islamic State (IS) militant group, as was disclosed by police, Wednesday.

Ahmad, who is paralysed waist down following a stroke, is a cobbler and is known as Majeed among his customers.

He said the last time he saw Nor Mahmudah was in October last year when he was warded at Sungai Petani Hospital.

"She came alone. Since then, I've not seen her or spoken to her even over the phone," he said, adding that he did not know that she was in Syria until informed by the police, Wednesday.

Ahmad said Nor Mahmudah was his daughter from his first marriage.

He was shocked when informed that his daughter had followed her husband to Syria.

"But I accept it as God's provision," he lamented.

On his daughter's relationship with Muhamad Wanndy, who is from Durian Tunggal, Melaka, Ahmad said he believed the two of them befriended each other while working in Penang last year.
