LABUAN:A total of 15,858 samples for COVID-19 analysis have been collected since Sept 27, with most being from Sabah returnees, of which 3,324 results are pending, said Labuan Health Department director Dr Ismuni Bohari.

He said that of the total, nearly 1,700 samples are from the Saguking Cluster, with 680 samples collected yesterday.

"We have estimated about 3,500 samples collected from the settlements for analysis and we still have 1,800 samples to collect in stages until Nov 3.

"We are trying to get all settlers in the two settlements, whom we believe had been infected, to be isolated and treated as soon as possible," he said to Bernama.

The Saguking Cluster consists of Saguking Laut and Sebor Baru, two water settlements with a population of 8,062, which have been placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) from Oct 21 until Nov 3.

Meanwhile, Dr Ismuni said the number of cases for Bina Cluster (those in the construction field) is expected to increase today and tomorrow in view of the increasing number of those having undergone the tests with pending results.

He said the Labuan’s Bah Bundle Cluster, which has 31 cumulative cases, is still active and spread is expected to continue within the community.

Two other clusters - Bah Bangat and Bah Layangan clusters - have yet to record an increase in the number of cases for the past two weeks.

As at yesterday, a total of 217 COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in Labuan, which is currently placed under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), from Oct 17 to 31.
