KUALA LUMPUR: As of today (25 August 2021), there are 22,642 new positive COVID-19 cases in Malaysia as reported by Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah via Twitter.

The total number of confirmed cases has increased to 1,616,244 cases since the pandemic hit the country, with active cases now at 264,292.

Selangor continues to register a high number of infections with 6,325, which has accumulated to 572,796 COVID-19 cases to date.

Sabah has also reported an increase with another 3,224 cases detected. 

There are 2,279 cases from Kedah, followed by Johor (1,832), Sarawak (1,667), Penang (1,427), Kelantan (1,424), Perak (1,390) and Kuala Lumpur (1,128).

States with less than 1,000 infections are Terengganu (744), Pahang (522), Melaka (342), Negri Sembilan (269), Perlis (44), Putrajaya (21) and Labuan (4). 




According to the data from the Ministry of Health (MOH), there are currently 1,003 patients in the intensive care unit, with 490 of them requiring respiratory assistance.

Meanwhile, there were 20,798 recoveries logged today, bringing the total number of those recovered and discharged now at 1,337,134. 

Malaysia has so far lost 14,818 people to COVID-19, including 265 fatalities that were reported in the last 24-hours.
