COVID-19: Highest toll of 18 deaths, 3,631 new cases reported

KUALA LUMPUR:Malaysia recorded the highest number of new deaths so far, with 18 fatalities, bringing the total number of deaths to 660.
Director General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, said in the last 24 hours, a total of 3,631 new COVID-19 cases were reported, bringing the total number of cases to 176,180.
Out of the total number of new cases, he said, there were six cases of imports receiving infection from abroad.
"There are currently 42,814 cases with COVID-19 infectivity," said Dr Noor Hisham in a post on his Twitter account on Friday.
Meanwhile, the state of Selangor recorded the highest daily case for the transmission of COVID-19 with an increase of 782 cases and this was followed by Sabah with 453 cases and Kuala Lumpur with 435 cases.
To date, a total of 251 cases are receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 102 of whom requiring respiratory assistance.
Meanwhile, the number of recovery cases continued to record an increase of 2,554 cases, bringing the cumulative number of cases recovered currently at 132,706.
