Subang MP Wong Chen today said he has received confirmation that all opposition MPs would receive an allocation of RM100,000 in aid to fight the spread of COVID-19 in their respective constituencies.
In his latest posting on Facebook, Wong Chen said he had received a confirmation via e-mail from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) this morning.
“Good news! We have just received an official confirmation from the PM’s office (at 10 am) that a sum of RM100,000 has been made available to all Opposition MPs, presumably to tackle the Covid-19 crisis.
“This amount is to last us the whole year, but I intend to spend all within this crisis period,” he said.
In an accompanying e-mail image, an officer of the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU), Prime Minister's Department for Selangor, Nurilda Hayati Isnan, said the MPs could apply for a project or a development to the Selangor State Development Office through the Special Allocation System (eKHAS) on link https://ekhas.icu.gov.my.
In addition, the officer also included guidelines for projects and programs, as well as guidelines on the use of welfare and disaster relief provisions.
Wong Chen, meanwhile, said he would hold a meeting via the Zoom app to work out the best way to distribute this aid.
He said that there would be a meeting of all the state assemblymen and community leaders in the Subang parliamentary constituency to get their feedback.
“We will have to also comply with government regulations on what and how we spend this. As such, my officers and I will be looking at the process and procedures,” he added.
