The government is committed to reducing the number of COVID-19 infections to a single-digit in the next two weeks.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the target would be achieved if the aspects of compliance with the standard operating procedure (SOP) of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) were complied with.
"High compliance with the SOP of the CMCO can control and reduce cases of infections. So far, only the first week (of the CMCO) has been implemented and will need to be seen within the next two weeks.
"We will now see developments through the CMCO's new method of whether it will have a high impact on reducing cases until it reaches the control of COVID-19," he said at a daily press conference here on Sunday.
Commenting further on this, Dr Noor Hisham said the government was also working to maintain the infection rate at two-digits daily.
"Although we have three areas of the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) and a new cluster, we hope to maintain a two-digit figure for daily cases of infections during this period.
"In the next week or two, we will be aware of the development of the new CMCO method that will have a high impact and will effectively reduce cases of infection and control COVID-19 in the community," he said.
