The Communist Party of China (CPC) is disappointed that the recent official visit by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to China was politicised by the opposition parties in the country.
This was conveyed by CPC deputy director-general Rao Huihua when she made a courtesy call at the UMNO headquarters and met with UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Irmohizam Ibrahim here last Sunday, reported Umno Online.
Rao, who was here to attend the MCA general assembly last Sunday, was also reported to have said that she hoped the matter would not affect bilateral relations between China and Malaysia which had been going on for almost two decades.
In his speech, Irmohizam said there were negative views which questioned Najib's official visit to China, adding that was the attitude of the opposition in the country which continuously tried to undermine the people's confidence in the country's leadership.
"We, on the government side, have explained to the people that Najib's visit to China has actually given a positive impact to the economy and political relations between the two countries," he added.
He said despite the actions by the opposition, the good relations between Malaysia and China would not be affected.
During the meeting, Rao also informed that CPC would attend the UMNO general assembly to be held from Nov 29 until Dec 3.
Najib was in China for six days from Oct 31 for his third official visit to the country since 2009.
The visit was made on the invitation of his Chinese counterpart, Li Keqiang.
The visit was considered highly successful with the signing of 14 Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs), worth RM144 billion, related to defence, economy, agriculture, education, finance and the construction sector between the two governments. -- BERNAMA
