Criminal elements found in death of police detainee
Criminal elements were found to have caused the death of a detainee who breathed his last while being detained at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters lockup last night.
This was the findings of the post mortem by Kuala Lumpur General Hospital physicians on the deceased.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Mohmad Salleh said the police have referred the matter to Bukit Aman for further investigations.
“The death has been classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code for investigation prupose.
“Bukit Aman investigating officer will be appointed to conduct the investigation on this case,” he said in a media statement.
The man reportedly died after complaining of breathing difficulties while being detained at the lockup.
City CID chief Datuk Ku Chin Wah had said that in the 9pm incident, the man had complained of chest pains before being brought to the Kuala Lumpur General Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
He had also said that the 32-year-old man was one of four suspects arrested in connection with a shooting case in Bandar Tun Razak, Cheras on May 11.
