CUEPACS denies rumours of allowance cut for civil servants

The Congress of Unions for Employees in the Public and Civil Services (CUEPACS) has denied rumours of allowance cut involving some 220,000 civil servants and professional groups in relation to the revision of Budget 2016.

Its president, Datuk Azih Muda said CUEPACS was never consulted nor informed about issues involving such cuts before.

"The news is not true. I ask all civil servants to remain calm and do not easily be duped into believing the rumors on print and electronic media over the issue.

"We have also confirmed this with the relevant parties," he said when contacted here today.

Earlier, social media sites were rife with rumours that prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will announce the allowance cuts this Thursday.

Meanwhile, Azih also dispelled rumours of a circular stating the suspension of DG44, 48, 52, and 54 candidate selection among educators later this month.

"This was not discussed previously, and if this is true, we would definitely object. The promotion is a motivation to civil servants, and those already in high grade are expected to perform a good job.

"It is something very inappropriate if rumours of the postponement were true," he said.
