The government has once again reminded the public that the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) was still in progress and they still needed to obey the directives issued.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri said the MCO had entered phase 3 and the police would continue to take firm action against those who deliberately violated the order.
“So, that's why I am reminding people to comply with the order. I see that some people are a bit relaxed as if the MCO is over and many are beginning to come out.
"I want to remind that the police will continue their arrests. As I have said, in this MCO 3, stern action will continue to be taken," he told a daily media conference here today.
Earlier, Ismail Sabri who is also Defence Minister said the PDRM had arrested 1,174 individuals yesterday compared to 1,111 individuals the previous day for violating the MCO, including 1,012 people were remanded and 162 released on police bail.
The total number of cumulative arrests under the MCO by April 19, 2020 (yesterday), he said, was 15,924 individuals.
In addition, 820 roadblocks were conducted nationwide and 369,106 vehicles inspected.
"A total of 42,482 surprise inspections have also been carried out nationwide with 6,856 premises inspected by the authorities," he added.
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said foreign nationals detained for defaulting the MCO but with valid travel documents or permits would be charged the same as Malaysian citizens.
For foreigners who have no documents, he said, they would be detained and sent to the Immigration Depot for further action.
