Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today unveiled his line-up of Cabinet ministers at his office in Putrajaya which he described as a balanced Cabinet.
The new line-up is expected to assist Najib in his drive towards economic and political transformation agenda for the nation.
During his briefing just minutes before the announcement, the Prime Minister announced that the cabinet would include a mix of technocrats and civil society representatives.
He said those individuals would bring valuable experience from outside the government, as well as experienced ministers and younger faces.
Apart from that, he also said the new line-up will be able to elevate the government’s performance as well as the peoples’ trust.
"The new cabinet will be responsible for delivering transformation in Malaysia and continue the economic and political reforms that began four years ago,” he said.
The line-up comprises of 30 ministerial posts and 27 deputy minister posts out of 42 ministries.
The team also presents new faces such as Nancy Syukri, Datuk Paul Low, Waytha Moorthy Ponnusamy, Khairy Jamaluddin, Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan, Datuk Mary Yap, Datuk Hassan Malek among others.
Five soon-to-be appointed senators were also be included in the list with two ministers and three deputy ministers.
The Prime Minister also expressed his confidence in the newly appointed individuals.
“I am confident that this Cabinet will be able to continue the national transformation momentum and increase the public’s confidence towards the government,” said Najib.
Meanwhile, political analyst Norizan Sharif said the new Cabinet team is a team that will contribute towards the nation’s transformation agenda.
“The Prime Minister (during the previous term) was alone in realising the transformation agenda,” he said.
Ealier Norizan had also suggested the size of the cabinet should be reduced to just ten members so that it would be much easier to search for qualified individuals.
