Federal government to assist flood victims in Penang - Najib

The federal government would assist those affected by the floods in Penang on Wednesday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said yesterday.
Najib in his Twitter account said he wants the authorities to ensure the drainage system in the state was smooth to prevent such incidents from recurring.
On Wednesday, several areas around Penang experienced flash floods and mudslide after more than five hours of rain.
Among the areas affected were Jalan Bayan Lepas to Teluk Kumbar, Batu Maung, Bukit Gambir, Bayan Lepas, Paya Terubong, Air Itam and several roads in George Town.
